Ultraviolet (UV)
Ultraviolet (UV) light is a type of electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than visible light but longer than X-rays. In the marine context, UV radiation from the sun can have various effects on the marine environment, including damaging coral reefs, affecting marine organisms, and degrading marine materials exposed to sunlight. UV radiation is also a concern for human health when spending time on or near the water, as it can cause sunburn, skin damage, and an increased risk of skin cancer.
