Kedge Anchor
A kedge anchor is a small anchor used primarily for temporary or emergency anchoring situations, such as when a vessel needs to anchor in a restricted area or change its position. Kedge anchors are typically lightweight and easy to handle, making them suitable for smaller boats or as a secondary anchor on larger vessels. They are often stored on the stern of the boat and are deployed by rowing or carrying the anchor away from the vessel to set it in place. Kedge anchors are commonly used when a vessel needs to hold a position in shallow water or strong currents.
